Some federal retirement decisions you only get to make once.

FERS, CSRS, the TSP, FEGLI, survivor benefits — the choices that get locked the day your paperwork is filed. We help federal employees get those calls right while there is still time to change them.

Who we help

Federal benefits are not one system. What applies to you depends on which retirement you are under and how close you are.

FERS employees

Three legs — the FERS annuity, Social Security and the TSP. We help you work out when you can go, what each leg will actually pay, and what the gap looks like.

CSRS employees

A more generous annuity and a set of traps that come with it: the offset, the windfall provision, survivor elections that cannot be reversed. Fewer people still understand CSRS. We do.

Special provisions

Law enforcement, firefighters, air traffic control. Earlier eligibility, mandatory separation ages, a different annuity calculation, and a supplement that behaves in ways that surprise people.

The decisions do not stop at the retirement date. Withdrawal strategy, FEHB in retirement, survivor and FEGLI changes as costs rise.

The review

What happens in a benefit review

All reviews are done online and take about 30 minutes. You bring what you have; we do the rest. By the end you will know:

Book a No Cost Retirement Review

  • The earliest date you can retire, and whether it is the best one
  • What your annuity is likely to pay, under your actual numbers rather than a generic calculator
  • Where your TSP sits against what you will need, and what your withdrawal options really are
  • Whether your FEGLI coverage still makes sense at your age and what it will cost as you get older
  • What a survivor benefit election means for your spouse — and what it means if you decline it
  • How Social Security, any military service, and any offsets fit into the total
  • Which forms you need, in what order, and how long OPM is currently taking

There is no cost for the review and no obligation afterwards. If you leave with a plan you can carry out yourself, that is a good outcome.

The best time to look at this is before you have set a date.

A benefit review takes about 30 minutes. Getting the date, the TSP, or the survivor election wrong costs considerably more, and most of it cannot be undone.
